General Info

The World Service Office, Regional Service Areas, and Local Districts
Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups, Inc. or the Al-Anon/Alateen World Service Office supports a worldwide fellowship whose purpose is to support individual Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups. The individual Al-Anon/Alateen groups are organized into regional service areas, which are then further broken into local districts. This structure facilitates communication between groups, districts, regional service areas, and the World Service Office. District 23 represents all Al-Anon/Alateen Family Groups in Santa Cruz and San Benito Counties and it falls within the Northern California World Service Area (NCWSA).

Report New Meetings and Meeting Changes
The Group Rep (GR) follows the steps below if you are starting a new meeting in District 23 or need to report a meeting change (GR, CMA, location, time, etc.).

The Group Rep (GR) or responsible person designated by the Group should go to the Al-Anon World Service Organization (WSO) website and make the changes.

  1. Go to https://al-anon.org/for-members/group-resources/group-records/ .
  2. Select Face-to-Face Meetings US, Canada and Bermuda.
  3. Select either New Al-Anon Group Registration or Al-Anon Group Change.

Make your changes online or download and submit a printed form. Instructions for submitting the print form are provided at the bottom of the form.

Additional information for meeting changes:

  • You need your meeting’s WSO number. To locate your meeting’s WSO number, select Meetings in the main navigation bar of our District website. Locate your meeting in the list. Click on the meeting name to view the meeting details and find the WSO meeting number.
  • Enter 023 for the District number. We are in District 23 of the Northern California Area.
  • Enter CAN for the Area name. We are in the Northern California Area.

What happens next?
The WSO sends the new meeting or meeting change information to the Northern California World Service Area (NCWSA) Group Records Coordinator. The NCWSA Group Records Coordinator then emails the information to our District Representative (DR) and the Group Representative (GR) of that group.
